Walkot Bandung Tindak 60 Tempat Pembuangan Sampah Ilegal
BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has taken firm action against the existence of 60 illegal waste disposal sites (TPS) which are considered to worsen the condition of waste accumulation in Bandung.
The Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan emphasized that illegal TPS is a form of violation of the law as well as environmental pollution that cannot be left.
"This illegal TPS cannot be left. It is a form of violation of the law and environmental pollution. We will not tolerate it," said Farhan in Bandung, Friday, March 27, reported by ANTARA.
He explained, the Bandung City Government is currently conducting a 24-hour patrol to identify, transport, and close illegal TPS locations.
In addition, the government is also tracing the parties responsible for the waste disposal activities at the location.
"Whoever is proven to have thrown garbage in an illegal TPS, we will process them legally," said Farhan.
He also appreciated the active role of the community in reporting the existence of illegal TPS through social media.
According to him, the participation of residents is very helpful in accelerating handling in the field.
Farhan also invited the public to play an active role in reducing household waste as the main solution to overcome this problem.
"It all comes back to us, whether we are able to reduce waste from our own homes or not," he said.
On the other hand, the Bandung City Government is also increasing the capacity of waste processing through a number of programs, such as strengthening the waste sorting facility (Gaslah), developing an incinerator, and processing organic waste in the Ciwastra and Gedebage areas.
"In the second quarter of this year, we will launch the RDF program and increase the capacity of the incinerator to strengthen the waste management system," he said.
