PM Anwar: Malaysia-RI agree to strengthen strategic cooperation

JAKARTA - Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia and Indonesia agreed to strengthen the two countries' strategic cooperation, as well as increase diplomatic efforts to ensure regional stability.

This was conveyed by Anwar after a dialogue with President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Friday, March 27.

"In facing the current global uncertainty, the agreement between Malaysia and Indonesia is becoming increasingly important, with both countries agreeing to continue to work hand in hand, strengthen strategic cooperation and increase diplomatic efforts to ensure regional stability and people's welfare," said Anwar Ibrahim.

He hoped that the brotherhood between the two fraternal countries would continue to be strengthened to a more solid and authoritative level.

Previously, Anwar Ibrahim said the meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was meaningful and opened up constructive space in finding a common ground in facing the West Asian conflict.

"The meaningful meeting with President Prabowo today opens up a constructive space in finding common ground to face the conflict in West Asia which is now pressing the energy security and economic stability of the world," said Anwar Ibrahim.

He conveyed that in the increasingly severe global uncertainty, Malaysia and Indonesia emphasized the importance of strengthening regional solidarity based on principles to maintain peace, ensure stability, and strengthen economic resilience for the welfare of the people.
