Add State Revenue, Bahlil Raises the Price of Nickel Reference Minerals
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has decided to raise the Reference Mineral Price (HMA) for nickel commodities.
This decision was taken as part of efforts to strengthen state revenue.
"It has been a decision from us that we will raise the HMA. So we will raise the reference nickel standard price," Bahlil told the media, Friday, March 27.
Bahlil said that the adjustment of nickel HMA was an official government decision to maintain price stability and ensure optimal contribution to the state's finances in the midst of global geopolitical conflicts.
Furthermore, Bahlil said the government was also drafting a plan to impose an export tax on downstream products, such as Nickel Pig Iron (NPI) and Feronikel (FeNi).
The Golkar Party Chairman said this policy was taken to find alternative sources of income for the country. One of the steps that was encouraged was to impose a tax on semi-finished products from nickel downstream processing, which has been a major export commodity.
"We have to find many alternative sources of income. One of them is because we encourage the imposition of export taxes on downstream products such as NPI. NPI products rather than nickel, we calculate, this is again we calculate yes, once again I am calculating about the formulation rather than imposing taxes on NPI," explained Bahlil.
The adjustment of this reference price will later be followed by changes in regulations so that it has a strong legal umbrella.
"With the addition of income, there must be changes in regulations, yes, we will arrange it," said Bahlil.
