Huntap in North Tapanuli is being built in stages, target completed in June 2026

JAKARTA - The government targets that the construction of permanent housing (huntap) for people affected by the landslide disaster in North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province (Sumut), can be completed gradually and completed in June 2026.

The acceleration of development is the main focus of the government considering that disaster victims have long been waiting for certainty of a decent and safe place to live.

Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) together with the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) and Chairman of the National Disaster Task Force (Satgas) Tito Karnavian emphasized that acceleration must be carried out without neglecting the quality of buildings.

The construction of the huntap was carried out through collaboration between the government and the Tzu Chi Indonesia Buddhist Foundation.

This is part of the effort to provide decent housing for people who lost their homes due to disasters.

Ara emphasized that the development of huntap is a priority of the government and must be carried out seriously according to the standards that have been set.

"We want this residential development to be completed properly, on time and with quality. Disaster victims have waited too long for certainty of a decent place to live," said Ara, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Disaster Management, Friday, March 27.

As part of the acceleration, the government has set two stages of completion.

The first phase of 68 units of houses is targeted to be completed on May 5, 2026 and will be immediately handed over to the community.

Then, the second phase of 35 units of houses is targeted to be completed on June 30, 2026.

On the other hand, Tito asked the North Tapanuli Regency Government (Pemkab) to be more serious in overseeing the development of permanent housing.

He emphasized the importance of coordination between the local government and contractors to prevent obstacles and delays in the field.

Through this acceleration step, the government hopes that all residential construction can be completed immediately.

So that people affected by the landslide disaster in North Tapanuli can return to live in safe, decent and comfortable homes.
