KPK asks East Java people to be wary of fake summonses signed by Investigation Director
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asks the public, especially residents in East Java, to be wary of fake summons letters bearing the signature of the KPK Investigation Director.
This warning was conveyed by KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo after receiving information about the circulation of the fake letter.
"We urge the public to be more careful and vigilant against this type of fraud," Budi told reporters in a written statement, Friday, March 27.
In the fake call letter, Budi said that there were a number of business entities in East Java who were listed to be questioned.
"It is accompanied by the number of investigation orders in the name of the KPK Investigation Director," he said.
The KPK further confirmed that the summons letter was fake. "And it was never issued," said Budi.
"The KPK asks the public to always be careful and vigilant against various fraudulent schemes in the name of the KPK, including extortion, case management, and requests for money or donations in any form," he continued.
Budi also asked the public to be wary of fake KPK in the field.
"We are always equipped with official letters of assignment from institutions. Likewise, every activity organized by the KPK, as well as the dissemination of anti-corruption seminaries, is also free of charge or free of charge," he said.
The public is said to be able to report if they find alleged fraud or extortion in the name of the KPK.
