Dear Trump, Finland Warns Iran Aggression Triggers Global Recession Worse than COVID-19
JAKARTA - Finland warns that a massive US-Israeli attack on Iran risks triggering a global recession worse than during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to Politico, Finnish President Alexander Stubb criticized US President Donald Trump's "America First" approach, arguing that it reduced diplomacy to short-term deals.
"Diplomacy is rarely a transaction," he said.
"I mean, interests can be transactional, but even in that case you have to find common interests," Stubb continued.
The same thing was also conveyed by the Iranian Foreign Minister (Menlu), Abbas Araghchi, regarding the approach of the US Government led by President Donald Trump regarding the war they started in Iran.
Araghchi memandang AS melihat pertikaian ini tidak secara objektif dan cenderung berat sebelah mendukung tindakan-tindakan Israel meski melanggar hukum internasional.
Previously, he also criticized the attitude of US allies in Europe who did not highlight the emergence of the actual conflict, namely Iran was attacked while conducting diplomacy.
"We respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries and have no intention of attacking them," he said.
"However, unfortunately, the US bases in those countries are used to attack us, and those countries have failed to fulfill their international responsibilities to prevent the use of their territory for attacks against Iran," Araghchi added, quoted by Iran's official news agency, IRNA.
