Prabowo Blusukan, Layak Housing to MCK on the Edge of the Senen Train Line is Directly Cut Off
President Prabowo Subianto asked a number of ministries/institutions to build residential houses for residents who still live on the edge of the railway, after previously reviewing settlements around the railway line in the Senen area, Jakarta.
The Secretary of the Cabinet (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that the President ordered the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo, the Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, Perum Perumnas, and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and related officials to build residential houses and facilities for bathing, washing, kakus (MCK) for people who still live on the edge of the Senen railway.
"Today, the team has also moved to the process of building new housing and MCK which is not far from their original living area," said Seskab Teddy, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, March 27.
He said when the President reviewed the Senen railway outskirts on Thursday (26/3), residents reported that they had lived in the outskirts of the railway for decades with limited housing and roof conditions.
"And the President wants the residents to be able to make a place to live and a MCK that is suitable to be occupied as soon as possible," he said.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto directly reviewed the densely populated settlement on the Senen railway embankment, Jakarta, Thursday afternoon, surprising residents because it was not announced earlier.
The Government Communication Agency said that upon arrival at the location, the President got out of the vehicle and greeted the public. Residents from various backgrounds seemed enthusiastic to approach to shake hands and convey aspirations directly.
"This afternoon, I walked along the settlement on the railway embankment in the Senen area, Central Jakarta. It is located about 3 km from the center of Jakarta City. Hear the aspirations of the people there," said the President in a statement on Thursday.
Prabowo said the government would move quickly to prepare the construction of decent housing for residents along the railway.
He said the provision of decent and safe housing was the government's determination to improve people's welfare.
"God willing, we will soon build decent housing for the people in the area quickly, and it has become my determination to provide decent housing for the Indonesian people," he said.
