Russia's Report of Sending Drones to Iran as a Lie, Kremlin: Don't Ignore
JAKARTA - The Kremlin spokesman on Thursday said media reports that Russia had almost completed the delivery of drones to Iran were "lies."
Russia is a close ally of Iran, but has denied sending military aid to its partner since the United States and Israel began attacking the Mullah's State in February.
"There are so many lies spread by the media. Don't pay attention to it," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in response to an AFP question, as quoted by Al Arabiya (26/3).
Previously, the Financial Times in a Wednesday report citing Western intelligence officials said Russia was in the process of sending drones to Tehran and would complete the delivery by the end of March.
In addition, Russia is also reported to have sent food and medicine to Iran, quoted from The Times of Israel.
The Kremlin has also provided intelligence and satellite imagery support to its allies, the report said, but the drones are the first weapons shipment from Moscow to Tehran during the war that began on February 28.
Russia has been producing Iranian-designed drones for its war in Ukraine since 2023, the report said. Deliveries from Russia to Iran are reportedly intended to improve Tehran's military capabilities and stabilize its regime.
Previously, the Washington Post reported earlier this month that Moscow had provided sensitive intelligence to Tehran, including the location of US warships and aircraft in the region.
