Lebaran Holidays Over, Commuter Line Back to Be Filled with Daily Workers

JAKARTA - Community activities in urban areas are starting to return to normal as the end of the 2026 Lebaran holiday approaches.

The movement of Commuter Line users is again dominated by daily workers with travel patterns concentrated in the morning and afternoon rush hours.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda revealed that as of 13.00 WIB, the number of users of the Commuter Line Jabodetabek was recorded at 279,114 people.

"Bogor Station is the departure station with the highest volume, namely 20,804 people. Meanwhile, Sudirman Station, which is in the office area, is the destination station with the largest volume, namely 22,267 people," Karina said in an official statement, Thursday, March 26.

During the Lebaran Transportation period from March 11 to 25, 2026, KAI Commuter recorded a total of 13,306,263 people using the Commuter Line Jabodetabek or an average of 887,084 people per day.

Meanwhile, the Commuter Line Basoetta serves 114,342 users or 7,623 people per day, and the Commuter Line Merak has 203,053 users or an average of 13,537 people per day.

Karina said, during the 18 to 24 March 2026 holiday, the average daily user even increased significantly to more than 1.7 million people.

"This figure reflects the high enthusiasm of the public in utilizing the Commuter Line for various needs, ranging from local homecoming, social visits to tourism," he explained.

Karina added that during the Lebaran holiday, there was a change in the pattern of passenger travel.

Movement tends to be more even throughout the day with a dominance of non-routine travel.

However, after the holiday period ended, passenger volume was again concentrated during rush hours.

It is recorded that the highest volume of Commuter Line Jabodetabek during the holiday period occurred on Sunday, March 22, 2026 or after Idulfitri with a number of users reaching 899,640 people.

Meanwhile, the Merak Commuter Line recorded the peak of users on Monday, March 23, 2026, with 17,532 people, and the Basoetta Commuter Line on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, with 10,465 users.

"In terms of characteristics, during the Lebaran Transportation period, users are dominated by seasonal passengers such as families who travel for recreation or silaturahmi. However, as the Lebaran holiday ends, the composition of today's passengers begins to be dominated by daily workers who use the Commuter Line as the main transportation to their workplaces," said Karina.

In addition, the Kereta Petani service continues to operate during the Lebaran Transportation period with a total of 1,396 users, although on some days the Merak Commuter Line service only serves the Rangkasbitung-Cilegon relationship.

In terms of integration, a number of stations recorded high volumes during the Lebaran period, including Bogor Station with 756,219 people, Sudirman Station with 403,781 people, Cikarang Station with 337,049 people, Cawang Station with 277,456 people, and Rangkasbitung Station with 236,634 people.

This shows the important role of the Commuter Line in supporting intermodal connectivity in urban areas.

KAI Commuter urges the public to continue to plan their trips well, especially for those who are still taking advantage of the holiday season.

"As well as maintaining security and comfort during the use of the Commuter Line, it is also good for passengers who travel with their families to travel outside rush hours," he concluded.
