Beware of These 5 Favorite Breakfasts That Secretly Damage Your Gut Health

JAKARTA - Breakfast is often referred to as the most important meal of the day. Many people deliberately choose a filling menu so that they can be active with full energy since morning. But not all foods that look safe or are considered healthy are really good for the body, especially for intestinal health.

According to a certified gastroenterologist from the US, Dr. Palaniappan Manickam, many popular menus can actually have a negative impact on intestinal health. Through his personal Instagram upload, he mentioned five breakfast menus that he thought were not good for the intestines.

Here are 5 breakfast menus that can damage the intestines, as reported by the Hindustan Times website.

1. Sweet cereal with milk

Many people consider cereals to be a healthy breakfast, especially if eaten with milk. However, most packaged cereals contain high sugar and processed carbohydrates. This combination can trigger a spike in blood sugar and does not support intestinal health in the long term.

2. Bread with butter

At first glance it looks simple and practical, bread with butter is often a quick choice in the morning. However, white bread is generally made from processed flour that is low in fiber. Plus butter is high in fat, this combination can make digestion work harder and less provide the nutrients needed by the intestines

3. Instant noodles

Instant noodles are a lifesaver when you don't have much time. Practical and cheap, but actually unhealthy. According to Dr. Manickam, instant noodles contain processed carbohydrates, high sodium, and many additives. In addition, there is almost no protein or fiber, so it's just a 'burden' for the intestines.

4. Fried

Fried and greasy breakfast menus are appetizing. But, foods like this tend to be high in fat and difficult to digest, especially if consumed in the morning. Eating fried foods too often can disrupt the balance of good bacteria in the intestines.

5. Processed Carbohydrates Without Vegetables Carbohydrates alone are not enough. Without the addition of vegetables or protein sources, menus like this only provide calories without important nutrients. As a result, the body, including the intestines, does not get the fiber intake needed for healthy digestion.
