Al Ittihad is trying to get Mohamed Salah from Liverpool again
JAKARTA - The Saudi Pro League club, Al Ittihad, has again tried to get Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool striker announced on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, local time, that he would leave Anfield at the end of the season.
Al Ittihad once made an offer of 150 million pounds (about Rp3.3 trillion) for Salah in September 2023, but was rejected by the Reds.
Now, they are ready to show interest in the 33-year-old Egyptian again as they look to star names to become the face of the club after Karim Benzema's move to Al Hilal in February 2026.
ESPN reported that Al Qadsiah is the only other Saudi Arabian club with the finances and ambition to rival Al Ittihad's bid. Meanwhile, both Al Hilal, Al Nassr (where Cristiano Ronaldo has been playing since 2023), and Al Ahli are not interested in Salah.
For information, Salah will be allowed to leave Liverpool with a free transfer status even though he still has one year left on his contract, which he signed in April 2025.
During his time at Anfield, Salah has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third in Liverpool's all-time top scorers list, behind Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285).
Then, he was fourth in the all-time Premier League top scorers with 191 goals.
Since joining from Roma in 2017, Salah has helped Liverpool win eight major titles, including two Premier League titles and one Champions League.
Salah signed a two-year contract extension in April 2025, which ties him to the club until the end of the 2026/2027 season, after becoming a star player in the Reds' journey to a record-equaling 20th Premier League title.
However, his performances have dipped this season and he was dropped for three consecutive matches late last year. Salah then gave a surprising interview to reporters, accusing the club of abandoning him amid a string of disappointing team results.
Meanwhile, Al Ittihad are also interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Casemiro on a free transfer for next season, but the Saudi Pro League club must first make a decision on Fabinho's future.
Casemiro announced in January 2026 that he would leave Old Trafford after his contract with the English club expires on June 30, 2026.
At that time, at the age of 34, the Brazilian still felt he had the strength to continue his career in one of Europe's top leagues.
