Germany Builds Military AI, War Decisions Accelerated!

Germany's military is beginning to look at artificial intelligence as an "invisible weapon" to speed up decision-making on the battlefield. This is done, amid a surge in data from modern drones and sensors.

The head of the German Army, Christian Freuding, said AI technology is now seen as crucial to analyzing combat data much faster than humans - an urgent need in the information-based era of war.

Ukraine's experience during the conflict in recent years has become a major reference. From the data collected, AI can learn past enemy movement patterns and provide real-time tactical recommendations.

War Enters AI Era

According to Freuding, the analysis process that previously required hundreds of personnel and days of time can now potentially be drastically cut with the help of AI.

"Conventional methods alone are not enough to break the opponent's decision-making cycle," he said.

However, he emphasized that AI would only serve as an aid, not the main decision-maker. The final decision remains in the hands of humans, especially soldiers in the field.

This step also reflects Germany's efforts to adapt to NATO's ever-evolving standards in the use of military technology.

Freuding opened the possibility of using European-made systems, but did not close the door to solutions from the United States which were considered more mature in implementation.

By way of illustration, the US military is currently using AI systems such as Maven developed by Palantir Technologies to process battlefield data, including images and video, to improve situational awareness and speed up responses.

For Germany, the goal is clear: not just to have AI, but to have AI that can be used immediately.
