Jakarta is predicted to rain heavily until the weekend.
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning of extreme weather for the DKI Jakarta and Thousand Islands regions in the next few days.
In the warning, BMKG said that the potential for heavy to very heavy rain could occur on March 25 to 29, 2026 or until this weekend.
This condition risks triggering puddles to flooding at a number of points, especially areas with limited drainage systems.
The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) appealed to the public to increase vigilance against potential hydrometeorological disasters. Residents are asked to prepare basic equipment such as umbrellas or raincoats, as well as disaster standby bags.
"The public is urged to always be alert and ready to anticipate the impact of extreme weather," said the Head of the BPBD Isnawa Adji in his statement, Thursday, March 26.
In addition, the public is also asked to actively monitor the condition of the surrounding environment, including the water level at water gates that can be accessed online through the official government website.
Residents who find the potential for puddles or flooding are also urged to immediately report it through the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application so that it can be immediately followed up by officers.
Meanwhile, BMKG also predicts that the Jakarta area will be hit by light rain throughout Thursday, March 26. In the morning, light rain is predicted to fall evenly in a number of areas, ranging from West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta to the Thousand Islands. Meanwhile, South Jakarta and East Jakarta are predicted to start the day with heavy cloudy conditions.
The air temperature in the morning in the Jakarta area is in the range of 25 to 27 degrees Celsius. Entering the afternoon, light rain is expected to spread to all areas of Jakarta with the air temperature expected to increase in the range of 28 to 30 degrees Celsius.
In the afternoon, the intensity of the rain began to decrease in several areas such as Central Jakarta and the Thousand Islands which turned into thick clouds. However, other areas are still potentially hit by light rain with air temperatures expected to drop to around 28 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, at night, light rain is predicted to be evenly distributed throughout the Jakarta area with an air temperature ranging from 25 to 27 degrees Celsius.
