Manchester United Don't Want to Rush Marcus Rashford to Barcelona

JAKARTA - Manchester United is calm about Marcus Rashford's situation at Barcelona. They are confident they will be able to find another interested party if the LaLiga giant decides not to exercise the option to make the transfer permanent.

Barcelona can sign Rashford for 30 million euros ($34.5 million) this summer to make his status at Camp Nou permanent as part of the deal to loan the England striker until July 2025.

Manchester United are aware of speculation in Spain that Barcelona could try to renegotiate the terms, including paying a lower fee or trying to delay payment until after the next loan.

However, according to ESPN reports, the Red Devils' executives insist that they will not start new talks and are willing to let Rashford return to the club in the summer if Barcelona does not exercise their option.

ESPN further reported that Manchester United believed Rashford's performance in Spain had increased his value and that they could potentially negotiate a higher fee with other clubs.

The 28-year-old has scored 10 goals in 39 appearances this season and will be part of England's World Cup 2026 squad.

There are a number of clubs in England and Europe who are asking about Rashford's availability amid uncertainty about his future.

Rashford, who still has two years left on his contract at Old Trafford, had to train alone last summer before completing his move to Barcelona.

If he returns at the end of the season, it is likely that he will be allowed to rejoin the first-team squad now that Ruben Amorim is no longer at the club.

Amorim was sacked in January 2026 and replaced by Michael Carrick, who had previously worked with Rashford as an assistant coach under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United are still considering their options on whether to give the job to Carrick on a permanent basis or appoint an outsider.

However, the manager's seat, which is currently occupied by Carrick, has not solidified Rashford's stance to return to Old Trafford. The striker is rumored to prefer to stay at Barcelona, although it is not impossible to return to Manchester.

The possibility of being reintegrated into the first team squad is still considered small because Manchester United is actively looking for another left winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

With Barcelona still chasing trophies in LaLiga and the Champions League, club officials will make a decision on whether to continue a permanent deal for Rashford at the end of the season.
