Government Assures No Reduction in Education Budget
Jakarta - Presidential Chief of Staff Muhammad Qodari confirmed that the education budget had not been reduced. Instead, the government strengthened the education sector through the school revitalization program and the construction of People's Schools, which also had a wide economic impact on the community.
Qodari said the school revitalization program and People's Schools not only focused on improving the quality of education, but also had a double effect on the economy.
This was conveyed by Qodari at a press conference at the Bina Graha Building, the Presidential Staff Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 15.
Qodari added that the sustainability of the two programs is proof of the government's commitment to strengthening the education budget. In 2025, the school revitalization program includes 16,167 educational units.
This number increased from the initial target of 10,000 schools after President Prabowo Subianto added about 6,000 schools. As of March 11, 2026, 16,062 schools had completed construction, while 105 other schools were still in the process of completion.
