Extreme Poor Children Can Get Free Boarding Schools, 101 Permanent People's Schools Will Be Completed Soon

Jakarta - Extreme poor children will soon be able to attend free boarding schools because 101 permanent People's Schools are soon completed. The Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) M. Qodari said the government targeted to complete 101 People's Schools by June 2026.

This was conveyed by Qodari at a press conference, Wednesday, March 25. Thus, it is expected that these schools will be able to accommodate new students from extreme poor families in the 2026/2027 school year.

In these schools, students will receive dormitory facilities, health services, digital learning facilities, as well as basic and other educational support provided free of charge.

Qodari said all these schools are part of the second phase of the permanent People's School development, whose construction process has been carried out since last year.

As of the beginning of 2026, all the progress of the construction of these schools is in accordance with the plan and is expected to be completed on June 20, 2026. Qodari explained, the government initially targeted the construction of 104 People's Schools in this second phase.

The details include 40 locations in Java, 26 locations in Sumatra, 12 locations in Kalimantan, 16 locations in Sulawesi, 3 locations in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, 4 locations in Maluku, and 3 locations in Papua.

However, according to him, for now, 101 schools have been built first while the remaining three, which are located in Malang City, South Lampung Regency, and Aceh Singkil Regency, are planned to be built in October.
