Rupiah Potentially Under Pressure, Middle East Sentiments and Oil as Triggers
JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on Thursday, March 26, 2021 is expected to weaken against the US dollar.
To note, quoting Bloomberg, on Wednesday, March 25, the spot rupiah exchange rate closed down 0.08 percent to Rp16,911 per US dollar.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) of the Bank Indonesia (BI), closed up 0.45 percent to the price level of Rp16,905 per US dollar.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong, predicts that the rupiah exchange rate will weaken against the US dollar which is strengthening again, triggered by increasing skepticism about the prospects for peace in the Middle East.
In addition, he added that the increase in world oil prices also provided additional pressure on the rupiah.
"The rupiah is expected to weaken against the US dollar which has strengthened again by skepticism about peace in the Middle East, the rising oil prices also burden," he told VOI, Thursday, March 26.
Lukman estimates that the movement of the rupiah on Thursday, March 26, 2026 will be in the range of Rp16,850-Rp16,950 per US dollar.
