Two Laundry Employees in Kelapa Gading Suffer Burns when Their Shop Burns Due to Elpiji Gas
JAKARTA - Two QTA laundry employees suffered burns when a fire hit the stall where they worked on Jalan Raya Kelapa Nias, RT 01/15, Pegangsaan Dua Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta, Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
The two injured victims were known as Janiarto Ali (30) who suffered burns on his hand. Yani was taken to the Pegangsaan Dua health center to get medical help. Then referred to a large hospital.
Meanwhile, another victim named Indah Pratiwi (38) suffered burns on her left hand. Indah was treated at the Kelapa Gading health center.
The fire also burned a 3x13-meter laundry building. As a result of the fire, Jevon, the owner, suffered a loss of Rp. 300 million.
"The suspected cause is due to an LPG gas leak (elpiji). Initially, residents saw thick black smoke from a laundry location. At the time of the incident, the fire was still in the area, then residents took the initiative to go to the nearest village and police station to report the incident," said Kasiop Sudin Gulkarmat North Jakarta and Thousand Islands, Gatot Sulaeman.
Furthermore, the report was forwarded to the Damkar Sector of Pegangsaan Dua to request fire extinguishing assistance.
A total of 10 fire trucks and 50 firefighters were deployed to the location. The fire extinguishing process was completed by officers at around 15.57 WIB.
Currently, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kelapa Gading Police has carried out crime scene investigation at the scene of the incident. The crime scene investigation was led directly by the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kelapa Gading Police, AKP Kiki Tanlim.
"The victim, Juniarto Ali, is an employee of Laundry QTA. He suffered burns to his face, neck, right and left hands (18% burns). The victim has been referred to Koja Hospital from the health center," said AKP Kiki when confirmed.
Meanwhile, the victim named Indah is also a Laundry QTA employee. As a result of the fire, the victim suffered minor burns and shock.
"The witnesses examined were 7 people who were employees and employees of the laundry. The material loss was 4 washing machines, 4 dryers, 1 refrigerator, 1 CCTV device and monitor screen and a Honda Jazz B 1690 UYB car," he said.
