National Electricity Peak Load During Eid reaches 34.77 GW

JAKARTA - PT PLN (Persero) admitted that it was successful in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah in various regions of Indonesia on Saturday, March 21.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, conveyed the reliability of electricity supply during the 1447 Hijriah Eid celebration was supported by the national supply capacity of 51.37 gigawatt (GW). Meanwhile, the peak load recorded 34.77 GW, so there is still a very sufficient power reserve.

"The electricity standby status will still take place until March 31, 2026, all elements of the company are committed to maintaining the electricity system to operate optimally," he said, quoted Wednesday, March 25.

Furthermore, Darmawan added that all PLN units have reported the electricity conditions in various priority locations in a safe and controlled condition.

A total of 4,429 priority locations, which include 2,044 places of worship, 706 transportation points, 439 crowded locations, 426 shopping centers, and 814 hospitals, are the focus of securing electricity supply during the Idulfitri momentum.

"The priority locations are monitored safely and under control without any electrical disturbances. We continue to monitor intensively so that the community can carry out activities on this Eid al-Fitr moment smoothly," he added.

From eastern Indonesia, the General Manager of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Head Unit of PLN, Sri Heny Purwanti, said that the condition of the electricity system in NTB during the Idulfitri moment was in excellent condition.

On the Lombok system on Lombok Island, the load during the Salat implementation was recorded at 326 megawatts (MW), while the system's capacity reached 380 MW with a power reserve of 54 MW. Meanwhile, on the Tambora system on Sumbawa Island, the peak load reached 139 MW with a capacity of 188 MW, so there is still a power reserve of 49 MW.

"With the available power reserves, the NTB electricity system is in a sufficient condition to meet the electricity needs of the community during the Eid al-Fitr celebration, including during the Eid al-Fitr prayer," said Sri.

The same was conveyed by the General Manager of the South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan Distribution Parent Unit (Kalselteng), Iwan Soelistijono. He emphasized that the electricity system in his region operates optimally at the moment of the Idulfitri celebration.

"Alhamdulillah, the implementation of the 1447 Hijri Eid prayer in all regions of South Kalimantan can run smoothly. Our electricity system operates optimally and is still supported by adequate power reserves," said Iwan.

This success is also reflected in the reliable electricity conditions in the western Java region. General Manager of PLN Distribution Unit Banten, Muhammad Joharifin, said that this achievement was the result of thorough readiness since the beginning of the RAFI standby period.

"PLN has managed to keep the electricity supply reliable from the night of takbir until the implementation of the Eid al-Fitr prayer, so that people can carry out their worship safely and diligently without obstacles," said Joharifin.

The appreciation came from the local government, the Regent of Tangerang Regency, Moch. Maesyal Rasyid assessed that PLN's support during the implementation of the Eid al-Fitr prayer was very helpful for the community to worship with piety and comfort.

"We appreciate PLN's readiness in maintaining electricity supply during the implementation of the Eid al-Fitr prayer. This gives a sense of security and comfort to the people of Tangerang Regency in carrying out worship," concluded Maesyal.
