Mediation Mawa and Insan Ended in Failure, Legal Representative: Mawa Still Determined to Separate

JAKARTA - The divorce mediation process between Mawa and Insan held at the religious court finally came to a dead end. Even though the two were brought together in one room, the plaintiff, Mawa, remained firm in his decision to end the household.

"So this is it, the media was brought together by both parties, from the plaintiff and the defendant. And by chance the media failed. The plaintiff still wants to separate," said Mawa's lawyer, Muhammad Idris via zoom, Wednesday, March 25.

Idris explained that the atmosphere in the mediation room felt unusual when the two met again. However, as time went on, the situation thawed even though there were still clear boundaries between them.

"Eh, I saw it was awkward at first. However, yes, it was like usual. However, it was still maintained at a distance," said Idris, recalling the moment his client met Insan.

Regarding the continuation of this case, the Mawa party emphasized that it would not withdraw the lawsuit. They want the legal process to run according to the procedures in the court until a final decision is issued.

"If Mawa, yes, he still wants, yes, this trial continues. Regarding the name of the trial, there is a procedure, yes, there are SOPs. After this mediation, it will continue to the next trial," he explained again.

Insan himself as the defendant is reported not to have made any meaningful resistance regarding the desire for divorce. In the mediation room, Insan is said to have given an answer confirming that he is ready to part ways.

"The mediator asked the defendant, yes, about whether the defendant wanted to separate or not. The answer from the defendant was that the defendant did not mind separating," said Idris.

According to Idris, the attitude of the person automatically answers the issue that is circulating regarding the desire to accelerate the divorce process. Legal logic shows that both parties are in the same direction to separate.

"So logically, it can answer yes to the question of whether it wants to separate quickly or not. Mawa wants to be in the mediation, yes, he still insists on wanting to separate," he concluded.
