Arus Balik Lebaran, Tol Cipali Dilintasi 35.000 Kendaraan
JAKARTA - The traffic situation during the H+3 Lebaran return period on the Cipali Toll Road was observed to begin to subside on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. Although the vehicle volume showed an increasing trend compared to previous days, the vehicle flow to Jakarta remained under control.
Based on data for the period from 00.00 WIB to 09.00 WIB, it was recorded that around 35,000 vehicles crossed the former Cikopo Toll Gate (GT) in the one-way system to Jakarta. This figure shows a slight decrease of 2 percent compared to the same period the previous day.
The implementation of traffic engineering in the form of a one-way system and the policy of opening and closing the rest area system is considered effective in maintaining the flow of traffic. The management, Astra Infra Toll Road Cipali, continues to appeal to road users to discipline themselves to comply with the rules on the one-way lane.
"To maintain mutual safety, road users are urged not to change lanes or use u-turns during the one-way traffic engineering. If you need to change lanes, please exit through the nearest toll gate and continue your journey by re-entering the desired lane without being charged additional tariffs," said Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Dept. Head Astra Tol Cipali Ardam Rafif Trisilo in a written statement, Wednesday, March 25.
Drivers are also urged not to stop on the side of the road unless in an emergency, because it can trigger traffic jams to fatal accidents. If the rest area is observed to be full, road users are asked not to force themselves to line up on the side of the main road.
"As an alternative, road users can rest at the next rest area or use the rest area outside the nearest toll gate. We guarantee that the total accumulated toll rate remains the same, based on the distance traveled, even if the road users enter and exit the toll gate to rest," he said.
As quoted from the official Instagram account @astratolcipali, the management will impose a discount or toll rate reduction for the Lebaran return flow.
The price reduction is valid from Thursday, March 26, starting at 00.00 WIB until Friday, March 27, at 24.00 WIB. This policy is expected to encourage people to arrange travel time back to Jakarta, in order to avoid peak congestion while providing financial relief for travelers.
Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi predicted that the peak of the Lebaran 2026 land transport return flow would occur in two waves, namely on March 24-25 and increase again on March 28-29, 2026.
Dudy explained that the first spike occurred because commuters were chasing the time to go to work after the Lebaran holiday. Meanwhile, the next wave was triggered by people who took advantage of the work from anywhere (WFA) policy.
According to him, the government has prepared various strategies to anticipate congestion, including the implementation of traffic engineering such as one way nationwide.
He emphasized that the one-way policy would be implemented on a situational basis if there was a significant increase in density on the main route, in order to ensure that people's travel remained smooth and safe.
