Xiaomi Stops Support for the Latest MIUI, Uses HyperOS Completely

JAKARTA - Xiaomi officially stopped supporting the MIUI operating system (OS) after being active for more than 15 years. With that, the OS which is now fully running on the Xiaomi ecosystem is HyperOS.

Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ are the last two phones to receive the latest MIUI security update. On March 24, Xiaomi will stop all types of software updates for both mid-range models.

This termination also stops the MIUI journey line that has been running since 2010. When it was still successful, MIUI managed to penetrate the figure of 500 million monthly active users worldwide.

This interface is very popular thanks to its theme customization features and innovations such as Second Space and Dual Apps. The success of MIUI has also made history because it is used by 15 percent of the world's population by the end of 2021.

The influence of this OS is very large, especially in shaping the Mi ecosystem through other devices, both Redmi and Poco, in the global market. Although this OS has scored many successes, Xiaomi has difficulty connecting its smart device ecosystem.

The company has struggled to unify hundreds of product categories, from household appliances to electric cars. Therefore, Xiaomi turned to HyperOS which was introduced since the arrival of Xiaomi 14.

This OS is designed with a more modern architecture to support a more integrated cross-device experience. Now, millions of users have migrated to the HyperOS ecosystem with lighter performance and smarter connectivity.
