Trump's Golden Dome Project Getting Crazy, AI Is Coming Down!

JAKARTA - The United States' ambition to build a "sky foundation" is now entering a new phase. Two technology companies such as Anduril Industries and Palantir Technologies are reportedly developing software systems for the Golden Dome missile defense project.

This fantastic value program was initiated by US President Donald Trump, and aims to create a space-based defense system capable of intercepting various types of missiles, from ballistic to hypersonic.

According to a source familiar with the project, the collaboration between the two companies focuses on developing AI-based software to support automatic detection and response systems to threats.

The Golden Dome is projected to cost up to $185 billion, up about $10 billion from previous estimates. This increase reflects the drive to accelerate the development of space-based technologies that are the core of the defense system.

From the start, Anduril Industries and Palantir Technologies have shown a great interest in being involved. In fact, previous reports said the two had worked with Elon Musk's SpaceX in several aspects of the project.

Not only that, Anduril is also among the companies that have bagged a number of initial contracts to develop prototype defense systems.

A number of other players have joined the project, including Lockheed Martin, RTX Corporation, and Northrop Grumman as lead contractors.

In addition to industrial giants, technology startups such as Scale AI and Aalyria Technologies also took part, showing that this project is a "magnet" for cross-sector collaboration.

Golden Dome is designed as a new generation defense system that is capable of integrating sensors, satellites, and AI into a single integrated network. If successful, this system will be a major leap compared to conventional missile defense systems.

But behind its ambitions, this project also sparked a debate about the escalation of militarization of space and the potential for a new arms race in the AI era.
