Apple Vision Pro Can Now Stream PC Games!
JAKARTA - The latest update finally makes the Apple Vision Pro more relevant: now this expensive headset can "power" the PC via streaming technology from Nvidia.
Through the visionOS 26.4 update, Apple officially brings support for Nvidia CloudXR 6.0. This means that users can run heavy games and applications from a Mac or PC directly to Vision Pro without having to rely entirely on internal hardware.
This is the answer to the main criticism: the lack of native applications in Vision Pro since the initial launch.
Streaming is the SolutionWith CloudXR, experiences such as playing a simulator or heavy application can now be "streamed" to the headset. One developer has even confirmed support via X-Plane 12, which allows users to run complex flight simulations on Vision Pro.
The technology makes use of features like ARKit and foveated streaming to keep performance optimal - at least on paper.
However, there are still big question marks. Apple and Nvidia have not revealed the minimum specifications required for streaming to run smoothly, especially for high resolution and stable frame rates.
Classic issues like latency are also a challenge. In the XR experience, even a slight delay can immediately ruin the immersion - even make the user dizzy.
Even so, this step could be a turning point. Instead of waiting for developers to make a special app, Apple opened the door so that the PC software ecosystem could be "pulled" directly into Vision Pro.
The visionOS 26.4 update itself is available and will be installed automatically if the update feature is active. For users who are impatient, the update can be done manually through the device settings.
