Prabowo Calls Anwar Ibrahim to King Abdullah II, Eid Greetings and Discusses Iran-Israel Conflict

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto communicated via telephone with a number of heads of state and heads of government on the 1447 H Eid al-Fitr.

Prabowo conveyed Eid al-Fitr greetings to Muslim leaders of friendly countries, including Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohammed bin Zayed, Turkish President Recep Erdogan, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Bin Salman, to King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Apart from greeting, Prabowo also discussed various issues with Muslim leaders of friendly countries.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he exchanged views with Prabowo on the Iran-Israel conflict. Both countries agreed to call for peace to end the conflict.

"We both together call for peace and I told President Prabowo that Malaysia will continue to support and strengthen diplomatic efforts to ease the Iran-Israel conflict, so that tensions can be eased, civilian lives can be protected, and meaningful negotiation space can be opened towards a peaceful and lasting solution," said Anwar Ibrahim through his official X account, quoted on Wednesday (25/3).

Anwar and Prabowo also scheduled a bilateral meeting in the near future. "We agreed to arrange a meeting in the near future, including my proposal to visit Jakarta as a step to strengthen the already close bilateral relationship," said Anwar.

Quoted from the official statement of the X Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) Jordan account, Prabowo also discussed with King Abdullah II the need for diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts in the Middle East.

"His Majesty King Abdullah II exchanged Eid al-Fitr greetings with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto via telephone. The conversation discussed the need to end Iran's aggression against Arab countries, and to refrain from using dialogue to resolve crises and defuse the current situation," said the RHC Jordan.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed the same thing. "I spoke to my brother, His Majesty Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, to convey warm Eid al-Fitr greetings to him and all the brothers of the Indonesian people. We also exchanged views on the regional situation, especially in Iran and the Gulf region, and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and the resolution of all differences through dialogue and diplomacy," said Sharif through his official account.

He also conveyed a commitment to strengthen Pakistan's bilateral relations with Indonesia. "We reaffirm our desire to further strengthen the historical and fraternal relations between Pakistan and Indonesia, as well as expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest," he said.
