The Ministry of Defense ensures that the second A400M transport aircraft will arrive at the end of March.

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Defense (MoD) has confirmed that the second A400M transport aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Air Force will arrive by the end of March 2026.

"The Airbus A400M is expected to arrive in Indonesia by the end of March 2026," said the Head of the Defense Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the General Secretariat (Setjen) of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General (Brigjen) TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 25.

The largest transport aircraft owned by the Indonesian Air Force will be the second unit owned by Indonesia after the first A400M landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta on November 3, 2025.

Currently, the plane is on its way from its place of manufacture in Seville, Spain to Indonesia.

Rico ensured that with the arrival of the second A400M aircraft, the Indonesian Air Force would be stronger in guarding Indonesia's territorial airspace.

To note, the contract to purchase two A400M aircraft was signed by President Prabowo Subianto when he was serving as Minister of Defense in 2021 on the sidelines of the 2021 Dubai Airshow.

At the same event, the Ministry of Defense also signed a letter of intent (LoI) for the purchase of four A400M units in the future.

The A400M heavy transport aircraft is a versatile aircraft that has the ability to transport heavy cargo, refuel in the air, and for humanitarian operations and combat operations.

The A400M aircraft was first delivered to the Indonesian Air Force in 2017. The French Air Force sent aid to Lombok during the earthquake in August 2018. The Malaysian Air Force A400M aircraft also landed in Palu to send aid in October 2018.

The A400M aircraft, as stated in the official statement of the Ministry of Defense, is reliable for tactical transport, personnel and goods delivery, and landing in various terrains. For tactical transport, the A400M can load and transport heavy and wide-dimensioned logistics goods and equipment.

The heavy loads that can be transported by the A400M, including fuel trucks with a capacity of 80 tons and excavators.

Then, the A400M aircraft can also transport 116 personnel with complete equipment ready for combat, and can transport a patriot missile launcher and a heavy tactical truck HEMTT Truck.

Indonesia is now officially the 10th operator of the A400M. In Asia, there are four A400M user countries, namely Malaysia as the first, followed by Turkey and Kazakhstan.
