Indonesia Sends 17 Representatives to the 2026 Asian Badminton Championships
JAKARTA - Indonesia is confirmed to send as many as 17 representatives to face the Badminton Asia Championship (BAC) or the 2026 Asian Badminton Championship which will take place early next month.
The tournament was held in Ningbo, China, on April 7-12, 2026. This could be a stage for Indonesian players to make up for the less than satisfactory results during the European tour as well as preparations for the 2026 Thomas and Uber Cup.
Indonesia returned home without a title at all for four tournaments in Europe which were held from February to last weekend. The four events in question were the German Open, All England, Swiss Open, and Orleans Masters.
The best journey for the representatives of the Red-White team in these events was to get two runners-up. This achievement was achieved by the men's singles Alwi Farhan and the women's singles Putri Kusuma Wardani at the Swiss Open.
In Ningbo, the doubles sector will be the largest contributor. The men's, women's, and mixed doubles all send four pairs. The singles sector is filled with three representatives in the men's number and two representatives in the women's number.
The three names of the men's singles sent to BAC this year are Jonatan Christie, Alwi Farhan, and Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah. The first two names immediately started the fight from the first round, while Ubaidillah will start from the qualifiers.
From the women's singles sector, two names sent were Putri Kusuma Wardani and Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan. Gregoria Mariska Tunjung currently still needs recovery so that she cannot accompany the two names.
In the men's doubles, the four pairs that took part were Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, and Ali Faathir Rayhan/Devin Artha Wahyudi.
Then four pairs in the women's doubles, namely Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramahdhanti, Rachel Allesya Rose/Febi Setianingrum, and Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinnara Nastine.
Meanwhile, the mixed doubles sent out the pair of Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Pasaribu, Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah, and Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti.
