Sekura Culture is a Tourist Attraction in West Lampung

JAKARTA - The West Lampung Regency Government has high hopes for the Sekura cultural tradition as one of the main attractions to boost tourist visits. This tradition is considered not only full of cultural values, but also has the potential to be a local economic driver.

The Secretary of West Lampung Regency, Nukman, explained that Sekura is a cultural heritage reflected in the use of typical masks and traditional dance performances that need to be maintained.

"This Sekura Cakak Buah festival, in addition to efforts to preserve the culture of our ancestors' heritage, this activity also has great potential in supporting the development of the regional tourism sector which can attract tourists from outside the region," said Nukman.

He added that the wider introduction of the Sekala Bekhak culture through the organization of the Sekura festival at the national level is expected to increase the number of tourist visits to West Lampung. As a result, the local community's economic sector also has the opportunity to grow.

This annual tradition that is routinely held by the community is not only a celebration of culture, but also a means of strengthening identity and pride in the cultural values of Sekala Bekhak.

As a form of real support, the local government also provided assistance through grant funds to pekon (village) which became the organizer of the Sekura Cakak Buah activity.

"As a form of commitment from the West Lampung Regency Government in preserving the Sekura Cakak Buah tradition, the government provides real support through the distribution of grant funds to the Pekon organizers of the Sekura Cakak Buah activities," he said.

According to him, this support is proof of the government's seriousness in maintaining the ancestral tradition alive, thriving, and becoming an important part of the identity of the people on Earth Sekala Bekhak.

He also invited all people to help maintain security and order during the celebration so that activities can run smoothly and full of joy.

"Hopefully this activity will bring happiness, strengthen brotherhood, and further strengthen our love for regional culture," he said.

Furthermore, Nukman assessed that the culture and tourism sector is now one of the main strategies of the local government in increasing the Regional Original Income (PAD), especially in the midst of budget efficiency challenges.

"Culture and tourism have proven to be strategic and reliable solutions in increasing PAD. This sector not only provides direct financial contributions, but also encourages inclusive economic growth through job creation and preservation of local identity," he said.
