Nissan Z NISMO 2027 US Version Finally Comes with Manual Transmission
JAKARTA - Nissan has just proven that they really listen to the cries of speed lovers. After sparking a debate when it was first launched without a clutch pedal option, the 2027 Nissan Z NISMO model has finally been officially introduced with a six-speed manual transmission for the United States market.
The presence of this "three pedal" transmission is not just a complement, but a serious technical improvement that includes the use of a more robust clutch and a shorter gear shift lever ratio, promising a much more mechanical and precise driving sensation.
As reported by the Nissan USA website, Wednesday, March 25, the Z NISMO with a manual transmission will make its debut in North America at the New York International Auto Show next week. While it is said behind the hood, the iconic 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 mechanical heart remains the main star. For the NISMO variant, the power output reaches 420 horsepower, slightly more powerful than the standard variant which is at 400 horsepower. Interestingly, Nissan has recalibrated the throttle response and ignition timing settings to produce a more aggressive and consistent torque delivery. This driving experience is also strengthened by the recalibration of the Active Sound Enhancement system which is now able to dramatize the intake and exhaust noise more realistically when the driver moves the driving mode to Sport position.
The control side also gets a touch of the legendary "Godzilla". Nissan attaches a front braking set from Akebono that adopts Nissan GT-R's two-piece disc technology. The use of forged aluminum disc caps not only improves braking performance and cooling, but also manages to reduce the weight of the front of the vehicle by almost 9 kilograms. This weight reduction is followed by a revision to the front damper and steering rack, which now has 20 percent lower internal friction to provide a sharper and more accurate steering feedback when turning corners.
Visually, the Nissan Z 2027 looks alluring with a strong touch of nostalgia. One of the main highlights is the return of the Shinkai Green Pearl Metallic color inspired by the classic S30 model and combined with a Super Black roof. The retro impression is further strengthened by the new 19-inch rims on the Performance variant whose design is inspired by the 15-inch aluminum rim of the Z31 generation. In addition to aesthetics, changes to the car's nose, which now has a body-colored bar and a redesigned air vent, also serve aerodynamically to improve cooling while reducing wind resistance and lift.
The refinement does not stop at the surface. Nissan made updates to the fuel tank design to ensure the flow of gasoline remains stable when the car is driven in a high-G cornering condition, a feature that will be greatly appreciated by track day and autocross enthusiasts. On the interior comfort side, a Qi2 wireless charger is now available equipped with a cooling fan to keep the temperature of the device stable during charging.
Meanwhile, as reported by MotorTrend, the estimated price for this model starts from around 46,000 US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 780 million, the 2027 Nissan Z is scheduled to start landing at dealers in the summer of this year.
