BMKG: Potential Rain Still Occurring in Indonesia Ahead of Dry Season

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that Wednesday, March 25, there is still the potential for rain in a number of cities in Indonesia ahead of the dry season accompanied by cloudy conditions for other areas.

"The readiness for potential heavy to very heavy rain in the West Java, Central Java, East Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and Maluku regions needs to be improved," said BMKG Sastia Prakirawan, quoted by Antara, Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, for major cities in Indonesia, he explained that for the Medan area it is predicted to experience cloudy conditions and thick clouds in Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, Palembang and Bengkulu. There is still the potential for light intensity rain in Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, and Pangkal Pinang.

Meanwhile, he said, in the Java region for the Serang and Yogyakarta regions, it is predicted that there will be heavy cloudy weather, light rain in Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya, and rain accompanied by lightning in Semarang.

For Kalimantan, the weather is predicted to experience cloudy conditions in Pontianak and Banjarmasin, light rain in Palangkaraya and Tanjung Selor, and hazy air in Samarinda.

In the Nusa Tengara and Bali regions, heavy cloudy weather can be experienced in the Denpasar area accompanied by the potential for light intensity rain in Mataram and Kupang.

Sastia said there was still the potential for light rain in Sulawesi, which was predicted to be experienced in certain periods today in Manado, Mamuju, Makassar and Kendari. There was also smoke/fog weather in Palu and thick clouds in Gorontalo.

In eastern Indonesia, BMKG predicts heavy cloudy conditions in Ternate and Sorong. There is a potential for light rain in Ambon, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, moderate rain in Nabire, and rain accompanied by lightning in Manokwari and Merauke.
