TNI AL hands over the body of a soldier who died in a shootout with the KKB in Maybrat to his family
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Navy Marine Corps handed over the remains of the deceased Marine Sergeant Andi Suvio who was killed during a gun battle with an armed criminal group in Sori Village, South Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, South West Papua, to his family.
The handover of the body to the family was carried out militarily at the 1st Marine Brigade, the Marine Corps, Hartono, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Monday, March 23.
Previously, the late Marine Sergeant Elki Saputra, who also died in the contact, had been sent to his hometown in Padang, West Sumatra, to be buried in a military manner.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Marine Corps, Lieutenant General TNI (Mar) Endi Supardi.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Navy Information Service, First Fleet Admiral TNI Tunggul, said the two soldiers died as heroes while guarding the country's sovereignty.
Tunggul continued that Andi Suvio's body was sent to his hometown in Pangandaran Regency, West Java, to be buried in a military manner.
As a form of appreciation for the two fallen soldiers, Tunggul ensured that the Indonesian Navy would fulfill all of its rights.
"Currently, our main focus is to provide the last tribute that is worthy of the country's patriots, as well as ensuring that all the rights of the deceased and the families they left behind are properly fulfilled," he said as quoted by ANTARA.
