Waste Transportation to Sarimukti Landfill Back to Normal
JAKARTA - The Bandung City Government has ensured that the process of transporting garbage to the Sarimukti landfill has resumed, so that waste handling at a number of points has gradually returned to normal.
Head of the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH) Darto said that the previous accumulation of garbage had been predicted due to the restrictions on transportation for several days.
"Today, there is only a start of transportation again. So, if it is full in the morning, this afternoon has started to gradually reduce," said Darto as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 23.
Darto explained that based on monitoring through the Smart Waste Management (SWM) system, transportation and processing activities have taken place at various points in the City of Bandung.
"Transportation is already running, processing is also running. This afternoon it is projected that there will be a significant reduction in several points," he said.
However, he said, a number of Temporary Shelters (TPS) are still experiencing congestion due to the previous day's garbage and daily transportation quota limitations.
Several points of concern, including in the Ciwastra, Cijambe, and Indramayu Road areas.
"We ensure that handling has been carried out at the location, although the volume of waste cannot be fully handled in one day," he said.
He estimated that the achievement of waste processing would continue to increase until the afternoon, with the target of all sub-districts reaching at least 50 percent of the daily target.
Darto emphasized that starting tomorrow, waste management will be gradually improved, both in terms of transportation to the TPS, transportation to the landfill, and processing in the field.
"Tomorrow it can return to normal, both transportation to the TPS, to the TPA, and processing, we will increase it again," he said.
