Flights in the US Disrupted Due to Airport Shutdown

JAKARTA - Airports in the United States are plagued by chaos due to a partial government shutdown, which has led to hours-long security check queues and flight delays everywhere.

"Airports from end to end of the US are experiencing major delays, security lines for HOURS, and missed flights," the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said on social media X, Sunday.

The government "shutdown" that has an impact on the DHS has lasted for more than 40 days, with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which is part of the DHS, being the hardest hit. TSA employees are reportedly not paid for weeks.

As a result, most TSA staff did not work, causing long security check queues at airports.

"The responsibility for this chaos lies on the shoulders of the people of the Democratic Party," said DHS.

Given the ongoing situation, US President Donald Trump on the same day announced that he would deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to increase security at US airports starting March 23.
