Passenger Surge, Police Keep Close Eye on Alalak-Subarjo Pier
BANJARMASIN - The Water and Air Police Unit (Polairud) of the Banjarmasin Police, South Kalimantan, has tightened supervision of crossing activities at the Alalak-Subarjo Wharf to ensure passenger safety during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period.
Head of the Banjarmasin Police's Marine Police, Kompol Dading Kalbu Adie, said that supervision was carried out through direct monitoring in the field as the passenger flow increased compared to the previous day.
"We carry out security and direct monitoring in the field to ensure that crossing activities remain safe and orderly amid the increase in passenger numbers," he said in Banjarmasin, Sunday, March 22.
During the activity, Polairud deployed floating multifunctional personnel with KP-BHABIN floating facilities to ensure that all crossing processes run according to safety standards.
Officers also synergize with the Transportation Service and local security forces to regulate the flow of passengers entering and leaving the pier so that there is no congestion.
In addition, active personnel give advice to the public not to crowd when boarding or disembarking the ship, and to take care of their belongings.
"We remind passengers to take care of their belongings and ensure that children are always under the supervision of parents to avoid unwanted things," said Dading.
Polairud also gave a stern warning to the captains of the ships, such as the KM Rahmat Ilahi, KM Putra Subarjo, and KM Berkat Bersatu, not to exceed the capacity of passengers and goods.
"We emphasize to the captain to comply with the capacity limit of the ship, because the safety of passengers is the main priority," he said.
Despite the surge in passengers, the crossing activity at the Alalak-Subarjo Pier was observed to run smoothly and conducive.
Polairud Polresta Banjarmasin ensures that supervision will continue to be carried out intensively during the homecoming and return to Idulfitri to maintain the security and safety of the community in the water transportation routes.
