Minister of Agriculture Amran: Food Supply During Eid 1447 H is Stable and Under Control

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the national food supply during Lebaran 1447 Hijriah was stable and under control, thus creating a happy condition for farmers, traders, and the community as consumers throughout Indonesia.

"This year's Lebaran we are grateful together. Good production, sufficient stock, stable prices. Farmers continue to produce, traders can trade, the public can buy at affordable prices," said Minister of Agriculture Andi in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, March 22.

He emphasized that the government continues to maintain the balance of prices so that farmers do not lose and the public still gets affordable food prices.

"Food prices should not be too high because it burdens the community, but also should not be too low because it harms farmers. The government must maintain that balance," he said.

Price monitoring is carried out together with cross-sectors to prevent hoarding and price games, especially during the Ramadhan and Idul Fitri momentum.

"This year's Lebaran is a victory for everyone, a blessing for everyone," said Amran.

The Minister of Agriculture ensures that the national stock of food commodities is in good condition and prices remain stable ahead of and on Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

This condition makes the momentum of Lebaran 2026 a happiness for all parties, starting from farmers as producers, traders as distributors, to consumers as the wider community.

"From monitoring in various traditional and modern markets, the prices of various basic necessities are stable and the stock is available," he said.

According to Amran, the success in maintaining food stock and price stability is the result of joint work from increasing production, strengthening food reserves, supervising distribution, and controlling prices in the market.

"We want everyone to smile. Farmers smile because the price of their crops is good, traders smile because goods are available and can be sold, and the public also smiles because food prices are affordable. That is the government's goal to maintain food," said Amran.

The Minister of Agriculture explained that the national stock position is very strong. The Government Rice Reserve (CBP) in the Perum Bulog warehouse is currently around 4.09 million tons, rice circulating in the community is around 11-12 million tons, and the potential harvest in the near future is around 12 million tons.

In total, the strength of the national rice stock reached around 28 million tons or equivalent to food security for about 11 months ahead. National rice production also shows an increasing trend.

The harvest in various regions is showing encouraging results considering that March 2026 is the time when the harvest occurs.

This increase in production strengthens the national stock while maintaining the stability of the price of grain at the farmer level.

"Our production has increased, harvest has occurred in many areas, February, March and April there are many harvests in various areas, so that the national rice stock is very strong. Our production is already above the national consumption needs," he explained.

With the national rice requirement of around 2.59 million tons per month and monthly production in the range of 2.6 to 5.7 million tons, the national rice condition is in a surplus position.

The Minister of Agriculture also conveyed that based on the national food balance sheet until April 2026, a number of strategic commodities were in surplus. It was recorded that rice with a supply of 27.5 million tons, the need for 10.3 million tons, so the balance was a surplus of 17.2 million tons.

For chili peppers, the availability is 409 thousand tons, the need is 304 thousand tons, so the surplus condition is 105 thousand tons. Likewise for chicken meat, with a supply of 2.07 million tons, the need is 1.34 million tons, the surplus figure is 727 thousand tons.

The availability of red onion commodities is 479 thousand tons, the need is 422 thousand tons, the surplus condition is 57 thousand tons.

In addition, the national balance of chili in March also experienced a production surplus, with red chilies surplus of around 46,868 tons and large chilies surplus of around 8,282 tons. This condition makes the price of chili start to stabilize and tend to decrease in the market.

"If the production is surplus and distribution is smooth, then the price will be stable. That's what we keep, from upstream to downstream," said the Minister.
