There Is An Allegation Of Corruption In Bansos Rice In Bekasi, Police Intervene
JAKARTA - The police are investigating allegations of corruption in the form of social assistance rice intended for residents of Bekasi Regency, West Java.
"We are providing assistance and support from our friends from the Polda Metro Jaya and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, to strengthen the investigation carried out by the Bekasi Metro Police," said the Director of Corruption Crimes at the National Police, Brigadier General Djoko Poerwanto, in Cikarang, as reported by Antara, Friday, June 4.
He hopes that the social assistance referred to reaches its destination and is beneficial for the recipients of assistance and is carried out without any violations or criminal acts that violate the rules.
"I have seen the hard work of the (Metro Bekasi) Polres investigators and the (Metro Bekasi) Police Chief. I think they are capable and willing to carry out this investigation with integrity, professionalism and proportion," he said.
According to him, the Bekasi Metro Police investigation aims to find out whether or not there is a criminal element in the case.
"Of course, my friends hope for their help and prayers so that the Bekasi Metro Police can conduct a proper investigation," he said.
The Bekasi Regency community's cooperation, he said, is also expected to be able to provide the information needed by investigators so that in the near future the investigator's duties will be measured until later delivered to the public.
The head of the Bekasi Metro Police, Commissioner Hendra Gunawan, said investigators were collecting data and evidence and were preparing to summon a number of related parties for questioning.
"We will clarify by asking for statements from witnesses. We also collect some items (evidence), this is only the initial stage of the investigation," he said.
"Regarding whether there is a loss to the state, case evidence and others will be presented in the results of the investigation," he said.
The alleged corruption case of non-cash social assistance emerged after beneficiaries of the program complained that the aid rice was deemed unfit for consumption because it had a slightly yellowish smell and color.
A total of 1,130 families became beneficiaries of the program in Karangjaya Village, Pebayuran District, Bekasi Regency. Representatives of local residents have even reported this case to the Bekasi District Attorney's Office.
