Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition Launched, Has Cooling Fan in Camera
JAKARTA - Huawei officially introduced a new variant of its flagship line, the Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max Wind Edition, which brings a unique approach by embedding a cooling fan directly inside the camera module.
In terms of design, this device still retains the typical look of the Mate 80 Pro Max, but with a striking change on the back. The camera circle now looks bigger and is equipped with a small ventilation hole. Behind it, there is an active fan that controls the temperature of the device when used in heavy loads.
This innovation is aimed at keeping the performance of the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset stable, especially when running intensive activities such as gaming or recording videos for long periods. With better heat management, performance is expected to be more consistent without excessive throttling.
However, there are consequences from the addition of the fan. Huawei has cut one rear camera sensor, so the Wind Edition is only equipped with three cameras, unlike the standard version which has four cameras.
Apart from the change, other specifications remain identical. This smartphone carries a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen, a large 6,000 mAh battery, and supports 100W fast charging (cable) and 80W (wireless).
The device comes in two color options, namely Polar Night Black and Polar Day Gold, with a memory configuration of 16GB RAM combined with 512GB or 1TB storage.
Although it has been opened for pre-order in China, Huawei has not announced the official price for the Wind Edition variant. As an illustration, the standard version of the Mate 80 Pro Max is priced starting at 7,999 yuan or around Rp. 19.7 million.
The full launch and pricing details are expected to be announced at Huawei's official event on March 23. With this active cooling approach, Huawei seems to want to say: flagship smartphones are now not just about cameras and performance, but also about "long breath" when used to speed up without excess heat.
