Beat Torino, AC Milan Move Napoli and Back to Second Place
AC Milan again ranked second by overtaking Napoli after defeating Torino 3-2 in an Italian Serie A match at the San Siro Stadium, Milan, Sunday, March 22, 2026 WIB.
Milan previously had to drop down the rankings when Napoli beat Cagliari 1-0. The victory made Napoli have 62 points and heated up the competition at the top.
However, Napoli was only in that position for a short time. Milan then shifted Napoli after winning an important victory over Torino. The success of getting three points makes the Rossoneri get 63 points. One point ahead of Napoli who dropped to third place.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan stayed at the top of the standings with 68 points. Torino itself is still struggling in the middle of the table. They are in 14th place with 33 points from 30 matches.
In that match, Milan had to work hard to deal with Torino. Even though they were superior in ball possession, the attack of the team coached by Massimiliano Allegri still met a deadlock.
They had to wait until half an hour into the match when defender Strahinja Pavlovic broke into the Torino goal. Pavlovic took advantage of a rebound in the Torino penalty box that gave Milan a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute.
Only Milan's advantage did not last long. Towards the end of the first half, Torino managed to equalize through Giovanni Simeone. The goal started from a kick by Nikola Vlasic which could be stopped by goalkeeper Mike Maignan. However, the ball then moved wildly which was immediately taken by Simeone. The goal in the 44th minute changed the score to 1-1 and lasted until halftime.
Entering the second half, Milan continued to play aggressively by pressing the Torino defense. Their efforts were not in vain. Midfielder Adrien Rabiot brought Milan back to the lead after scoring in the 54th minute. This French player continued the assist from Christian Pulisic.
The goal raised the adrenaline of the Milan players. It turned out that just a minute later, Milan was able to score again. This time Youssof Fofana changed the score to 3-1 after completing Zachary Athekame's assist.
Torino tried to catch up. Their efforts paid off when they got a penalty in the 83rd minute. The penalty was given after Pavlovic committed a foul against Simeone in the penalty box.
The referee also pointed to the white dot and Vlasic completed the execution. The score changed to 3-2 for Milan. There were no additional goals and the score remained until the end of the match.
