KPK: Status Tahanan Rumah Yaqut Suspect Hajj Quota Not Permanent

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the status of the suspect in the alleged corruption case of the haj quota and former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas as a house arrest is not permanent or forever.

"This transfer is not permanent," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 21.

Budi emphasized that the PK would inform the public about when Yaqut's status as a house arrest would be.

"For how long, it will be updated (communicated) again," he said.

Previously, the wife of the defendant in the extortion case, former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan, Silvia Rinita Harefa, said that Yaqut was not seen at the KPK Detention Center.

"Actually, I didn't see Gus Yaqut. The information was that he said he would leave Thursday (19/3) night," said Silvia on Saturday, March 21.

He also received information that Yaqut was not seen during the Eid al-Fitr prayers.

"Kata orang-orang di dalam ya, enggak ada. Beliau enggak ada," katanya.

On Saturday (21/3) evening, the KPK confirmed that Yaqut had been under house arrest since the evening of March 19.

Yaqut became a house prisoner after his family appealed to the KPK on March 17. The KPK claimed to ensure that it would continue to monitor Yaqut.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Yaqut was named as one of the suspects in the alleged corruption case related to the 2023-2024 Indonesian Hajj quota by the KPK on January 9, 2026.

On March 12, 2026, the KPK detained Yaqut at the KPK Red and White building branch detention house after his pretrial was rejected on March 11, 2026. The case was said by the Financial Supervisory Board (BPK) to have caused the state a loss of up to Rp. 622 billion.
