Finland Re-Named the Happiest Country, 9 Years in a Row!
JAKARTA - Finland was again named the happiest country in the world in the 2026 World Happiness Report. This report also shows that Finland has managed to take the first place for 9 consecutive years.
Other Nordic countries such as Iceland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, are also consistently in the top 10 rankings. This success is obtained in relation to a combination of factors.
Starting from a high level of well-being, a fair distribution of wealth, a strong social protection system, to a healthy life expectancy. The President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, said that there was no instant behind his country's happiness, but a commitment to freedom, equality, and justice.
Some of the main things that have a big impact on the happiness of the Finnish population are free, quality education, affordable health services, individual freedom, low corruption, and easy access to calming nature.
All of these things make residents feel safe and prosperous. Moreover, with the balance of life and work, and easy access to nature, Finnish residents have the opportunity to relax and reduce stress.
Finland is also highly valued by tourists for its attractive design aesthetics. From nature, hotels, restaurants, to spas that focus on well-being.
Meanwhile, in addition to the coronation of the happiest country, the World Happiness Report 2026 report also highlights the younger generation, especially in English-speaking and Western European countries.
Quoting from VN Express, Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the past decade, the level of life satisfaction of the age group under 24 years in regions such as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand has experienced a significant decline.
One of the main factors is suspected to be the use of social media for long periods. This impact is felt most strongly in adolescent girls.
The report also notes that for the second consecutive year, no English-speaking country has made it into the top 10 happiest countries. This is a challenge that must be immediately faced, to restore the essence of the happiness of the country's residents.
