Xiaomi Watch S5 Launches with eSIM and 21-Day Battery, Targets Active Users
JAKARTA - Technology manufacturer Xiaomi officially introduced its latest smart watch, the Xiaomi Watch S5, which is positioned as an "all-around sports watch" device with long battery life and modern connectivity.
The device comes in two variants, namely the standard model and the eSIM version. Prices start at 1,199 yuan or around Rp2.7 million, while the eSIM version is priced at 1,399 yuan or around Rp3.2 million. Xiaomi also offers more expressive color options, ranging from black and silver to Forged Carbon and Midnight Blue variants for the eSIM version.
In terms of design, the Watch S5 carries a body made of 316L stainless steel with an integrated bezel. The Midnight Blue variant looks more premium thanks to the multi-faceted ceramic bezel, while the Forged Carbon version uses a layered forging technique that gives it a more sporty and lightweight impression.
In the display sector, this smartwatch is equipped with a 1.48-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels and a brightness level of up to 2,500 nits, ensuring that visibility remains optimal even under direct sunlight.
For health features, Xiaomi embeds a new generation sensor with a four-lamp and four photodiode (PD) configuration, which is claimed to be able to deliver heart rate accuracy of up to 98.4 percent. The sleep tracking system is also improved with a new algorithm that is claimed to be more precise in detecting the start and wake-up time.
Dual-frequency GNSS support is also embedded to improve location tracking accuracy, especially for users who are actively exercising outdoors. Xiaomi also added a cycling mode that is compatible with third-party devices such as Bluetooth-based power meters.
One of the main attractions is the battery life, which is claimed to reach up to 21 days on a single charge - a pretty impressive figure for the modern smartwatch class.
The eSIM version allows users to stay connected without having to rely on a smartphone, opening up communication and notification functions independently directly from the wrist.
Ecosystem integration is also an important selling point. The Watch S5 can connect to Xiaomi's vehicle applications, including electric cars such as the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7, as well as smart home devices such as smart door locks. Users can even view live camera footage from the watch.
This launch confirms Xiaomi's strategy of building an integrated ecosystem across devices - from wearables to vehicles.
