Ahead of Eid, Tegal Disaster Victims Occupy Huntara

JAKARTA - A total of 103 families (KK) affected by the landslide disaster in Padasari Village, Tegal Regency, Central Java, have begun to occupy temporary housing (huntara) built by the government.

The placement of residents is carried out gradually in line with the completion of residential units that are ready to be used in the field.

The huntara is the first step for residents to return to carrying out activities more safely and comfortably after being affected by the disaster.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo emphasized the importance of accelerating the provision of shelters, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr, so that the public does not have to stay in the evacuation for too long.

"Acceleration of the provision of temporary housing for affected people, so that they can immediately occupy safer and decent housing, especially ahead of the Idulfitri period," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Friday, March 20.

The construction of the huntara was carried out through the Implementation of Residential Infrastructure (PPS) Working Unit (Satker) of the Central Java Province Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of PU with the support of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk.

As of March 16, 2026, the progress of the huntara construction has reached 82.67 percent. Of the total plan of 456 units, as many as 204 units or 17 building blocks.

This includes the worship facilities in the form of a mosque that have been completed and are beginning to be used by the community.

In total, the huntara is designed for 456 units equipped with various supporting facilities, such as places of worship, kitchens, toilets in each block, and other supporting facilities.

Each unit is also equipped with basic facilities such as beds, mattresses, pillows, futons, cabinets, nakas and fans.

A total of 103 housing units have been handed over from the Head of the Central Java Housing Infrastructure Implementation Unit to the Tegal Regent, Tuesday, March 17.

Thus, the management of huntara is then the responsibility of the local government.

The PU Ministry will continue to monitor and coordinate with local governments to ensure that all facilities can function optimally and provide benefits for affected communities.
