17.231 Travelers Depart from Gambir Station H-1 Lebaran

JAKARTA - PT KAI recorded the number of passengers departing from Gambir Station reaching 17,231 people, with a number of favorite destinations, namely Semarang, Tawang, Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, Cirebon, and Bandung. This data is an accumulation until 08.00 WIB.

Head of Gambir Main Station, Ganjar Mairizal, said that the trend of buying tickets from Gambir Station in 2026 was faster than usual, and purchases were concentrated on favorite dates, namely H -3 to H-1, and were still available on alternative dates.

"For the flagship train and the executive class, the most sold out," said Ganjar as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 20.

He mentioned that the challenges of homecoming this year, the first of which is a very high passenger surge, then the limitation of seat capacity, density at the peak of the homecoming flow, security, order, and passenger comfort.

Therefore, as a form of readiness in facing this year's homecoming, his party has increased the capacity of train travel, improved facilities, and digitised services, strengthened security, and continued to coordinate across agencies.

"The message for travelers this year is to plan the trip from far away, then come early to the station. Take care of your belongings, obey the rules and follow the instructions from the officers," said Ganjar.

He appealed to pay attention to travel schedules and information, especially trains, maintain cleanliness and health, prioritize family safety, and respect fellow travelers according to the slogan "Comfortable Travel Safe Travel".

Previously, KAI Jakarta Regional Office 1 Public Relations Manager Franoto Wibowo said that out of a total capacity of 1,083,623 seats on long-distance trains provided during the Lebaran transportation period, 743,786 tickets had been sold, with an average occupancy rate of 69 percent.

KAI is still providing 333,255 seats for departures until April 1, 2026, especially during the return period.

"For departures after Lebaran, namely from March 23 to April 1, 2026, seat availability is still quite a lot, reaching more than 316 thousand seats. Our community is urged to plan the return trip early," he said.
