Ponorogo Thariqah Syathariyah Congregation Holds Id Prayer Earlier

PONOROGO - Hundreds of Syathariyah congregations in Ponorogo Regency, East Java, carried out the 1447 Hijriah Eid al-Fitr prayer early at the Pondok Pesantren Daarul Islaam Liahlissunnah Waljamaah Mosque, Sukorejo Village, Sukorejo District, Thursday.

The implementation of the worship took place solemnly since the morning and was attended by worshipers, most of whom came from the local pesantren pondok environment.

The Imam of the Id Prayer, Parlan Ahmad Khumaidi, said the determination of 1 Syawal was based on the internal calculation of the congregation who had completed the fasting for 30 days.

"Our fasting has been completed for 30 days because the beginning of Ramadan started earlier, namely on Tuesday," he said.

He added that the Thariqah Syathariyah pilgrims who participated in the Id Prayer were not only from Ponorogo, but also from a number of other areas such as Wonogiri, Madiun, to Kediri.

After the Id prayer, the congregation continued the activity by shaking hands and eating together as part of a tradition that is routinely carried out every year.

Even though they celebrate Eid al-Fitr early, the congregation still maintains tolerance with the surrounding community who follow the government's determination.

According to Parlan, the echo of takbir was not announced outside using loudspeakers to respect other people who were still fasting.

"We still maintain tolerance, takbir is only done inside the mosque," he said.

During the implementation of the activity, the police from the Sukorejo Police also carried out security to ensure that the activity was safe and conducive.

Sukorejo Police Chief Iptu Agus Tri Cahyo said his party deployed personnel to provide a sense of security to the congregation during the worship.

"We are here to ensure that the activities are safe so that the congregation can worship comfortably and devoutly," he said.
