Arus Mudik at the New Boom Port in Palembang Increased

PALEMBANG - The homecoming flow at the Boom Baru Port in Palembang, South Sumatra, increased on H-2 Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah to 234 passengers arriving from Bangka Island using the Express Bahari fast boat.

Junior Commercial Manager of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Palembang, Irtanto Armawan in Palembang, Thursday revealed that the increase in the number of passengers occurred since Wednesday (18/3) by 237 people increased compared to normal days ranging from 100-150 people per day.

"On Wednesday (18/3) 237 people arrived at the New Boom Port. Meanwhile, for departure to Muntok Port, Bangka Island on that day, 199 people were recorded," he said.

Meanwhile, for today on H-2 Idul Fitri, the number of passenger arrivals from Bangka Island was 234 people and 69 people departed.

The Express Bahari ship previously only operated three times a week, namely on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Ahead of the heavy flow of homecoming, since H-8 Eid al-Fitr, the departure schedule has been increased to every day from March 13-31, 2026, except for the first and second Eid, the ship is on a sailing holiday.

This was done to anticipate the surge in travelers who use the Express Bahari fast boat transportation service.

Meanwhile, ANTARA's monitoring at the location saw hundreds of passengers from Bangka Island arriving at the Boom Baru Port, Palembang using the Express Bahari fast boat.

According to Topan, one of the passengers of the Express Bahari fast boat said that he returned home today with his son and wife to return to his hometown in Kayuagung, OKI Regency, South Sumatra.

He admitted that he preferred fast boat transportation services compared to airlines because the cost was relatively cheaper.

"I work in Muntok. If you take a plane, you have to go to Pangkal Pinang first using a travel to take a plane which takes time and costs a lot," he said.
