Government Disburses Rp18 Trillion in Allowances for 1.6 Million ASN Regional Teachers
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) reported that from January to March 2026, it had disbursed more than Rp. 18 trillion in various allowances for more than 1.6 million ASN teachers in Indonesia.
Director General of Teachers, Education Personnel, and Teacher Education (Dirjen GTKPG) of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Nunuk Suryani, emphasized that the change in the mechanism for distributing various teacher allowances, which is now every month, is part of the government's efforts to provide better services to teachers.
"Starting in 2026, the distribution of teacher allowances from the previous three-month period, has now become every month. This accelerated distribution so that it can provide certainty to teachers about their rights. For the government, teacher allowances are not just numbers in the budget, but a form of appreciation for the dedication of teachers who are present every day to educate the nation's generation," said the Director General of GTKPG Kemendikdasmen Nunuk in Jakarta on Thursday.
He added that the fulfillment of teachers' rights more quickly is expected to have a direct impact on improving the quality of learning.
"We also hope that with the fulfillment of their rights, teachers can focus more on teaching and providing the best educational services for students," he added.
The distribution of teacher allowances in the first quarter of 2026, he said, includes the Teacher Profession Allowance (TPG) to around 1.6 million teachers with a total distribution of Rp. 18 trillion, then the Additional Income Fund (DTP) to around 20 thousand teachers with a total distribution of Rp. 14.8 billion, and the Special Teacher Allowance (TKG) to around 62 thousand teachers with a total distribution of Rp. 641.6 billion.
The change in the distribution of the Teacher Professional Allowance (TPG) to every month is also felt directly by teachers in various regions. They admit that they are more helped because of the certainty of the time of receipt and the ease of managing finances.
The teacher at SMAN 4 Tebing Tinggi (North Sumatra) Yuna Aryati said the policy gave a sense of calm in carrying out his duties as an educator.
"With the distribution every month, we no longer have to wait as long as before. This really helps us in managing our needs and makes us more focused on teaching," he said.
The same was conveyed by the Head of the State Kindergarten of Pembina in Batang (Central Java) Tarto Hadi Lukito who appreciated the change.
"We are very grateful for this policy. The distribution that is routine every month makes us feel more cared for and of course it is very helpful in planning the family's finances," he said.
