Airlangga Hartarto Reveals Efficiency Ahead of Eid, WFA Scheme Has Been Included in the Count

JAKARTA - The government has started counting savings steps ahead of Eid. Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto revealed that discussions on efficiency had been brought up in a limited coordination meeting and became one of the materials to be reported to the President.

Airlangga said that the focus discussed at this time is still efficiency in ministries and agencies. When asked whether this step could spill over into cutting the salaries of officials, including ministers and deputy ministers, he has not given a firm answer.

"Yesterday, we had a meeting, related to efficiency. That's one of the things that want to be reported," said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Airlangga at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, March 19.

Regarding the possibility of salary cuts, Airlangga emphasized that the discussion had not reached that point. "We are just talking about efficiency of K/L," he said.

He also admitted that the work from anywhere or WFA scheme had been included in the efficiency package that was being discussed. However, when asked further what the form of savings was, Airlangga did not explain in detail.

The answer was also still cautious when asked whether the efficiency of K/L could lead to cuts in the salaries of ministers and deputy ministers. "We'll see later," he said.

For foreign geopolitical issues, Airlangga also did not want to say much. "We just wait," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding President Prabowo Subianto's direction that the open house should not be held luxuriously, Airlangga welcomed it positively. "Yes, that's good," he said.
