BGN Demands that the Perpetrators of the Attack on SPPG in Karawang Be Processed by Law
JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) asked the perpetrators of the attack on the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) facility in Karawang Klari Pancawati II, West Java, on Tuesday (17/3) evening, to be prosecuted.
The brutal act was triggered by a personal debt issue that led to a conflict and became a sharp armed violence in the area of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program facility.
"We strongly condemn this action. This is not just a common criminal act, but an attack on state facilities that serve the community. We will not tolerate this kind of action," said Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sonjaya as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 19.
Based on the official report, the perpetrators came in pairs using a motorcycle and immediately looked for security officers who were on duty. A fight was inevitable until the perpetrator brandished a machete and attacked the victim inside the SPPG area, so the security officer was forced to take refuge in the volunteer locker room, while the perpetrator damaged the door with a sharp weapon until it was broken and entered the room.
The victim suffered injuries from the impact of the weapon and glass fragments, while the SPPG facility was damaged, including doors and equipment. Residents who knew about the incident immediately carried out the pursuit. One perpetrator was successfully secured, while the other fled. The police who arrived at the scene immediately handled and processed the crime scene (TKP).
Additional information revealed that the conflict began from the alleged embezzlement of motorcycle deposit money of around Rp. 12 million. Tensions peaked when the victim demanded accountability, eventually leading to an attack and destruction of the SPPG area.
"We ensure that the perpetrators are processed legally without compromise. The security of all SPPG is an absolute priority," said Sony.
He emphasized that BGN would strengthen the security system at all service points by evaluating the total SPPG, including improving security and risk mitigation in the field so that similar incidents do not recur.
Currently, the situation at the location has been conducive with security from the police and the support of the local community. BGN ensures that the operation of the MBG program continues, while tightening supervision to ensure the safety of officers and the sustainability of services for the community.
