Saudi Trust in Iran Collapses After Gulf Attack

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, said Iran was mistaken if it believed the Gulf countries were incapable of responding to its actions.

As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Thursday, March 19, Prince Faisal said Iran's attacks on the Gulf countries would not bring benefits to Tehran and would instead deepen its isolation.

According to him, trust in Iran has collapsed because of what he described as repeated attacks on Gulf countries and violations of the principles of good neighborliness.

Prince Faisal accused Tehran of running a blackmail policy to achieve its goals.

He also said the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries were coordinating to face Iran's attacks, as well as claiming Iran had targeted civilian sites in Gulf countries at the start of the conflict.

Regional escalation in the Middle East has escalated since Israel and the US launched a joint attack on Iran on February 28, which has killed about 1,300 people to date, including the then supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states that host US military assets.
