Prabowo Must Be Firm on US-Israeli Aggression to Iran

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Center for Islamic Studies in Finance, Economics, and Development (CISFED) Farouk Abdullah Alwyni asked the Indonesian Government to play an active role in stopping the military aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran.

Farouk said the military's actions were not merely geopolitical dynamics, but a form of unilateral use of force that violated international law and the principle of state sovereignty.

"The continued escalation shows a pattern of aggression that the international community can no longer tolerate," he said in a statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

He said that in this situation, Indonesia cannot be passive. As a country that upholds the principles of independence, justice, and world peace, Indonesia is considered to need to take a firm and dignified position.

Farouk specifically asked President Prabowo Subianto to take a number of strategic steps.

First, the government is asked to actively remind the US that the use of military force without a valid legal basis is a violation of the principle of international law.

He also urged an immediate cessation of all forms of military aggression against Iran.

Then second, Indonesia is asked to convey a firm condemnation without ambiguity against Israel.

"This step is considered important to maintain the consistency of morality and the direction of Indonesia's foreign policy," said Farouk.

Furthermore, the third, he asked the government to end geopolitical and geoeconomic dependence on the US. This effort can be carried out through strategic cooperation with Muslim and developing countries as well as strengthening national independence.

Fourth, Indonesia is expected to be able to take advantage of the dynamics of public opinion in the US which is said not to fully support its military involvement.

"This is considered an opportunity to increase international moral and diplomatic pressure," he said.

Finally, he also emphasized the importance of encouraging the formation of a more just and balanced multipolar world order to prevent the dominance of a single power in the international system.

In addition, Indonesia is encouraged to take a role as a bridge builder or a diplomatic bridge, by facilitating dialogue between Iran, the Gulf countries, and other relevant parties in order to create regional stability based on cooperation.

Farouk added that with the principle of free and active foreign policy and the constitutional mandate, Indonesia has a moral responsibility to be involved in maintaining world peace.

"It's time for Indonesia to show its leadership, not just as an observer, but as an active actor who is on the side of justice," he said.
